for labor day weekend, we went to the beach! we left in the morning and drove north of miami about an hour to deerfield beach. we made sure to eat at the whale's rib, which we found from the foodnetwork show diners, drive-ins and dives (it was delicious, as always). since it opened an hour later than usual, we took a stroll around the deerfield/boca border while we worked on our appetites.
after eating, we hit the beach. it was so much fun to finally be able to take Dean into the water! although I love the beaches in Cali, it's pretty difficult for kids and babies to have fun in the frigid water with the big waves. Florida's coast is much calmer and the water was the perfect temperature (reported at 85) Dean kept licking his fingers to fully experience the salty water and I had fun watching him feel the current as each wave came.
we even managed to leave right as more of the labor day crowd rolled in. the beach was definitely the best way to spend labor day and say so long sweet summer...although, here in Florida, the summer never really ends!
