birthdays and basketball championships

Tom turned 27 on Thursday and we had cake and ice cream over at our place. We kept it simple and just had my family over and watched the Miami Heat win the NBA Championship. Tom was double happy that they won, and that they won on his birthday, no less. Thomas is from Miami, Florida, so having the Heat win was really exciting for him. Congratulations to the Miami Heat, and most importantly, to my love, Tom for turning one year older (and wiser, too...Haaaapy Birthday, to you!).Now, who wants to eat some leftover cake? I'm off sweets and Tom is trying to eat better too, which makes for a lot of extra cake.

4 months

Dean is 4 months old today. I can't even believe it has been that long already! On the one hand, it feels like just yesterday that we were bringing him home from the hospital. On the other hand, it feels like forever that we've had this sweet little angel in our family. He definitely gives our family some flare and we love him and love all that he has brought to our young family.

pool picnic

Last week we had dinner by the pool. Tom hadn't been swimming with Dean yet, so I made us a little picnic to have while we were there. Dean did great in the water and is doing better each time he goes in. He'll get in all the way to his neck now! His first time he didn't even like his feet getting wet, to give you an idea of how far he's come. Dean got so tired by the end of it all, he fell asleep in Tom's arms on our walk back to our apartment. So cute and he's getting his hair back, except for that bald spot you can see in the last picture.

Today Tom turns 27! I wanted to make a special happy birthday wish to my sweetheart, Thomas. I love him with all my heart. I made the greatest decision of my life to marry him over two years ago. Now we have brought our sweet little angel into the world together and he has been the best father in addition to being the best husband. So, wish him a happy birthday and make his day brighter!

Sedona

This post is very much over-do, but it has to be shared. When Tom's Mom was in town we went day-tripping to Sedona. I had never been there, but Tom and his family visited when he was younger (when they lived in Arizona). Anyway, like I said, we day-tripped up north and I was taken aback by all the beauty there. I've seen beautiful scenes like the one in Sedona, but this was perfect. We spent a gorgeous day there sightseeing and shopping and eating. Then we drove on home. As for Dean in the car, he did quite well. There were only two spells where he cried a lot. One was on the way in, he woke up and was hungry, so we stopped nearby and I fed him. The other was when we were really close to home within the Phoenix metro area. Dean has never been a fan of the car, but he's getting more and more tolerant of it. We give him toys to play with and now that he can actually play with them, he doesn't hate it so much.

pool day

Last Thursday was Dean's very first pool day. With all the over 100 temps we've been having in Arizona this May, a dip in the pool is a given. So, instead of a regular Thursday where my Mom babysits Krew and Sadie for my sister-in-law Ashli, everyone came over to our apartment's pool. We had a blast! Nobody enjoyed it more than Krew who did pretty good with the kick board and tube my Mom brought for him. Dean did pretty well for a 3 month old. He only got a little nervous when my Mom dipped him a little further into the water than I did. Each time his little foot hit the water, he would try and bring it up. He clearly got overstimulated because he slept through a good portion of the pool trip. I had a good time holding him and sunning myself for the first time since our trip to the beach at Christmas.
